Materials & care

Materials & craftsmanship

The Comporta dinner set is crafted in Portugal from fine stoneware, a ceramic material valued for its strength, durability and tactile finish. Each piece is made using carefully selected natural clays and fired at high temperatures to create a dense, resilient body with a smooth glazed surface.

The result is tableware that feels refined but not delicate: strong enough for everyday dining, yet considered enough for a beautifully laid table. Subtle variations in tone, texture and finish are part of the character of crafted stoneware, giving each piece a natural, artisanal quality.

Care instructions

Dishwasher safe for everyday convenience.
Microwave safe for reheating food.
Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as moving a very hot dish onto a cold surface, or placing a dish from the fridge/freezer directly into an oven or microwave.
Do not use over a direct flame or hob.
Load carefully in the dishwasher so pieces do not knock against each other during the cycle.
To preserve the finish, avoid abrasive scourers and harsh impact on rims or edges.

Sustainability

Our stoneware tableware is sourced from one of the most prominent producers in Portugal. Stoneware is fired at lower temperatures than porcelain thus significantly reducing energy consumption.

Raw materials are also soured locally but a new raw material has been generated by collecting, recycling and reusing clays and glazes from its own operations as well as waste materials from other close by industries. Not only that but the entire process from design to end of production focuses on a minimum waste policy. Portugal is generally a leader in clean energy and accordingly the factories have been fitted with state of the art energy efficient technologies significantly reducing their footprint.

100% of water is carefully treated and reused.
